Memorial Day – Ceremony of Remembrance

The Winchester Unitarian Society invites the community to participate in a ceremony of remembrance at the World War I memorial at Main Street and Mystic Valley Parkway in recognition of Memorial Day on Sunday, May 28th. (You may learn more about the statue here: )

The worship service will reflect upon the history of recognizing those who gave their lives in service to their country and the ideals it stands for. Immediately at the conclusion of the service, the community will leave the sanctuary and cross the street to participate in a brief ceremony honoring those who have died and to pray for peace. The congregation’s children will create a remembrance wreath during the service which will be hung as part of the ceremony.

Family worship begins at 10:00 am in Meyer Chapel with worship following in the Sanctuary at10:30. The ceremony at the memorial will take at approximately 11:40. In the event of heavy rain, the ceremony will take place in the Sanctuary with the wreath to be hung at a later time.
