Worship

Welcome!  We’d like to give you a brief overview of some of what we offer children 8th grade and younger!  If you have any questions, or would like to hear about what we do and who we are in more detail, please do not hesitate to contact our Assistant Minister for Families and Children, Jeremy Melvin, at (781) 729-0949 or winchesteruure@gmail.com.

Our Philosophy

Our Religious Education program is animated by the belief that all of us are on spiritual journeys that can be deep wells of meaning and sustenance for us personally and which can inspire us to work for truth, justice, and love locally and globally.

In our classes, therefore, we try to both expose our children to the breadth and depth of the world’s religious traditions and modes of being and also give them a good grounding and appreciation for the liberal religious tradition that is Unitarian Universalism.

We also work to connect our principles and values to concrete activities and projects through which we can have a positive impact on the world around us.

Above all, we work to live as community in which we mutually urge one another to be the best people we can, offer support to each other when we need it, and celebrate the many joys and blessings of this life together.

Our Activities

Much of what we do happens in the weekly classes which are held during Sunday services and which are described below.  But we also do many other things which enrich the program and nourish our Church School community.

Children’s Chorale Just about every Sunday before church all children that would like to are invited to practice with our Children’s Chorale, which serves as our choir at our Children’s Chapels, sings at one service a month, and also at other special services and events.  The Chorale is led by our long-time Children’s Music Director, Jeanne Thomases.

Monthly Children’s Chapel Most Sundays the children begin with the adults in the service and then go to their classes after the Children’s Message.  On the first Sunday of every month, however, we have our own short Children’s Chapel service in the Meyer Chapel.  This is a time for the children to worship together – to share their joys, their sorrows, their fears, their hopes.

REACH OUT! Projects At least once a month we have a REACH OUT! Event, which is a multi-generational service project.  Some of our projects have included a Talent Show fund-raiser, yard clean-up days for elderly members of the community, singing at the local retirement home, and, most recently, starting a composting program here at the church.
