Racial Justice

Our Mission

Our mission as the Racial Justice Group is to foster active commitment to Winchester Unitarian Society’s shared covenant as set forth in the Eighth Principle:

We, the member congregations of the Unitarian Universalist Association, covenant to affirm and promote: journeying toward spiritual wholeness by working to build a diverse multicultural Beloved Community by our actions that accountably dismantle racism and other oppressions in ourselves and our institutions.

While we began with, and continue to focus on, racial justice in this journey together, we will hold ourselves accountable to dismantling a range of oppressions weighing on vulnerable and marginalized groups.  Our goal is to build  congregational awareness and commitment through conversations, speakers, books, columns in Highlights, and other actions.

How to Get Involved

We are eager to speak with folks that may be interested in contributing to this important congregational work going forward.  Anyone who is interested, please don’t hesitate to be in touch with any of the current members of the RJG. Your experiences and observations are always welcome.

Sincerely,

Robbie Brown, Harris Gibson, John Grebe, Gloria Legvold, Claire McNeill, Patty Shepard, and Sandy Thompson.
