On this 245th anniversary of our nation’s independence, we’ll take a look at the Declaration of Independence’s famous assertion – that “all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness,” and see where America falls short. What is the reason for our continuing failures and faultlines, and what can we do – as a country, and as individuals – to shape a society that lives up to our ideals?
