Holy No

Many versions of the Buddhist Loving-Kindness meditation ask us to offer care and compassion to someone with whom we’re in conflict or who is a challenge for us in our lives.  This is a good practice, and, in this day and age in our country, and, more is needed, something needs to be paired with it – namely, boundaries.  We can offer love, care, and compassion to those who are causing harm, as long as we also know that we can, will, and are saying “no” to their harmful actions and behavior.  We’ll explore what bringing these two parts together means as we consider a practice of offering to those causing harm a “holy no.”
