Rev. Cynthia Davidson
To the WUS Community,
I regret to share that I will be leaving my role as your Affiliated Community Minister. I will be relocating to the Pittsburgh area later this month and leaving my position as a “community minister” working in the nonprofit sector as the Executive Director for Massachusetts Interfaith Power & Light. This Sunday’s service will include a short ritual of “decommissioning” or release.
As some of you are aware, I have been trying to manage my aging father’s care from a distance and that has become more and more challenging and impossible to do well. Sometimes there is no substitute for one’s physical presence. And so, I’ve made the difficult decision to uproot and transplant myself with the intention of being more present and supportive to him.
One of the important teachings for ministers who hope to thrive in their positions is “family first.” While that is something I try to live by, and often advise to others, it doesn’t make leaving a dream ministry and welcoming community any easier.
I am so grateful to have been a part of the WUS community this past year and to have played a small part in the life of the ministerial team and the Green Sanctuary and Worship Associates ministries. Joining you occasionally in the pews for worship has replenished my spirit and been a delight.
From all I have experienced and observed, I know the congregation is in good hands with your dedicated lay and professional leadership. Thank you for the ministry you are doing!
With gratitude,
Rev. Cindy
