Highlights for RE, WUSYG, JUSYG, OWL, Spirit Play 4/25/2024

This past Sunday, we gathered in Metcalf for some collective activities around Earth Day. We made pledge cards to take home and discuss with our families, and we made grass “crowns” to help remind us of the power and importance of the natural world in our lives.

Spirit Play: This coming Sunday we’ll return to regular RE classes. Spirit Play 1 will hear a story about Gaura Devi and Spirit Play 2 will hear a story about Julia Butterfly Hill – both literal tree huggers! Neighboring Faiths will write notes of thanks for the wonderful presentation by the fa shi (nun) at Massachusetts Buddhist Association, whom we visited with on Monday evening, and we’ll continue our exploration of Hinduism. The nursery kids will enjoy fun, games, books, and laughs with Celia and Ryan.

Our Whole Lives (OWL) class will return this Sunday, 4/28, from 5 to 6:30 pm in the OWL room. The lesson for Sunday is Communicating with a Sexual Partner.

JUSYG: Greetings from Pennsylvania! I’m spending the week down here with my family (partly to recuperate from the service trip and partly to host a baby shower for my sister-in-law; I’m gonna be an Uncle!). I am very excited to be returning this Sunday just in time to lead the group for a regular meeting from 6:30-8 and hope to see you all there!

We still have a couple of dinner slots left. Please take a look here and see when you can sign up to bring in food and provide additional adult coverage. Thank you so much! Questions, message Sam: sam.wilson@winchesteruu.org

WUSYG:

Hey friends! What a week many of us had together!

It was so great being with y’all last week and I also look forward to seeing everyone again this Sunday who couldn’t make it on the trip this year. If you were in WV, remember to bring your mailbox notes. This Sunday we’ll be checking in post-trip and also planning for Youth Sunday (May 19th). As a reminder, you can always find the most up-to-date WUSYG calendar, including special meetings, joint WUSYG and JUSYG meetings, and fundraisers, here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1mCgVlud-1D1cY_UlLo7pgmdc5RVtTaBWuKwfF7jFDyg/edit?usp=sharing.
