RE Update 3/21/24

This past Sunday, we gathered up front in the sanctuary to hear the story The Rare, Tiny Flower – an especially colorful story about the difficulty and importance of making room for others’ points of view. We then enjoyed regular RE classes and the Youth Groups’ annual Chili Cookoff fundraiser, where much fun was had by all.

RE lessons and celebrations

Speaking of colors and fun, we’ll be celebrating the Hindu holiday of Holi this Sunday by throwing colors at one another in the parking lot of WUS during coffee hour, which will be held in Metcalf so anyone can take part. Adults and kids alike are welcome and encouraged to take part in this, our second annual event! We’ll have sheets you can use to cover yourselves, but we also urge you to wear clothing that you don’t mind getting dirty and possibly stained, as some of the colors might stain certain fabrics.

For our regular RE classes, Spirit Play 1 will hear a story about City Dog and Country Frog and Spirit Play 2 will hear a story called God Is Like the Darkness. Neighboring Faiths will continue studying Buddhism in preparation for our first visit to the Massachusetts Buddhist Association in Lexington on April 1.

Our new RE pick-up procedure went smoothly this past Sunday. We’ll continue to bring kids to the kids’ table in Symmes for pick-up by parents – regardless of the location of coffee hour.

So, like last week when coffee hour was in Metcalf, this week we’ll also bring kids to Symmes for pickup before parents head to coffee hour in Metcalf. We’ll line up and head down to Symmes at 11:35.

WUSYG: A huge thank you to everyone who entered chili, mac and cheese, and who came out to support WUSYG at the Chili Cook-Off! The event was a great success!

This Sunday, WUSYG meets as usual at 4:30 in the WUSYG room. We will gather to connect and to discuss why we travel, as we prepare for our upcoming service trip to West Virginia!
